Climbing Wall Insurance Information

Specialist Climbing Wall Insurance Brokers
As with all businesses Climbing walls differ considerably in size, facilities, income and management, all these factors are taken into consideration by insurers when setting a climbing wall insurance premium. We are often asked to indicate an average price, but as there is no average climbing wall, we prefer to offer full and complete quotations when all of the factors have been considered.
Town & Country have provided insurance for urban sports insurance, dedicated climbing centres and bouldering facilities across the country for many years and consider ourselves to be one of the very few specialist climbing wall insurance brokers.
Our customers will vouch for this and we still insure all of the walls we have secured to date. We get to know you personally and maintain this relationship throughout the year with mobile numbers to contact us out of hours if the need arises.
We have excellent relationships with our insurers and we are able to negotiate the very best cover at the very best rates. Brokers who are not experienced in placing this business regularly miss out on important covers and some struggle to include newer activities such as slacklining and drytooling so it is important to choose a broker who understands the industry and the activities involved.
Town & Country don't expect you to know the pitfalls and intricacies of insurance and we consider it our place to undertake that role on your behalf, acting like a member of your own team. That is why we make every effort to travel and meet each of our climbing wall owners and managers to assess the risks fully and work with you regarding risk management. We don’t make assumptions and prefer to see the risk for ourselves and take the opportunity to discuss how we might improve this and help reduce your future premiums.
Although there are many insurance companies willing to insure climbing walls not all of them truly understand the risks involved; this will result in restrictive conditions and endorsements being applied to your policy. We ensure that your policy is fit for purpose and custom built around you and your business.
Typically we can cover climbing centres that offer top roped climbing, lead climbing, un-roped bouldering (with or without topping out), dry tooling and slack lining along with various associated outdoor activities including residentials, camps and squad trips away.
There is very little in the way of activities we are unable to insure. Climbing wall building and maintenance along with route setting by your own staff and guest setters is also covered; Events, competitions, tuition, coaching are commonly included as standard in our policies as well as your shop (including online sales), cafe and any additional rooms hired out to therapists.
Supplementary covers such as money kept on premises, electronic business machines, computers and specified All Risks can be added depending on you requirements.

ROKT Climbing Gym – Brighouse
"My co-director and I set up a brand new climbing wall, and with our backgrounds in business and design we have taken the climbing wall to the market and developed multiple products and pushed at as many risk based activities, so much so we have been dubbed the “Adrenalin Gateway” to the Yorkshire dales.
At the outset we took, what we thought was good and appropriate insurance cover. We were approached by Laura from Town & Country who travelled a long way to meet with me. She spent almost a full day working through everything we had and what we had plans for.
As a climber Laura knows the risk environment well and as an experienced broker she understands the intricacies of the design of solid contracts which means I know ROKT has the right cover and that the disclosure process is transparent. More than that I know she and her team are able to articulate exactly what we, as a climbing wall and extreme sports centre, are trying to do with the underwriters."
Town & Country’s specialist climbing wall department with its experienced staff are proud to be working with ROKT on the UK’s highest outdoor climbing walls insurance requirements.
Higher than both the Tower of London and the Angel of the North, the towering ROKTFACE wall at ROKT climbing centre in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, will see people climb routes up to 36m.
The climbing wall is being created on one of the faces of a sky-scraping disused grain silos, which sits alongside the Calder and Hebble canal. Around 2,500 bolts are being drilled to create up to 21 unique routes.
