When insuring your sports club there is much to consider. Specifically you want to consider what type of cover you need and want. We understand that due to the nature of running a sports club or associate that from time to time accidents do happen, such as bodily injury to a member of staff or a club member. These unforeseen accidents can sometimes turn into claims against the club which can bare high financial consequences.
Our sports club insurance policy can cover you against such an incident by including public liability and professional indemnity and also employers’ liability can be added if required.
Employers are responsible for the health and safety of their employees while they are at work. Your employees may be injured at work or they, or your former employees, may become ill as a result of their work while in your employment. They might try to claim compensation from you if they believe you are responsible. The Employers’ Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969 ensures that you have at least a minimum level of insurance cover against any such claims.
Similarly to employers liability this covers any injury or illness that any member of the public may incur due to partaking in your services or that is in some way your responsibility. Unlike Employers liability this is not required by law, although it is a very good idea for anyone in the leisure industry to have public liability. Without public liability the company, or even its directors or owners can be held responsible for any loss or claim, potentially bankrupting not only the business but its owner or directors as well.
Professional Indemnity insurance (PI) is a form of liability insurance that helps protect professionals advice and services. The cover focuses on alleged financial loss caused by the service or product sold by the policyholder. These are potential causes for legal action that would not be covered by a more general liability insurance policy. Professional Indemnity Insurance covers professionals for claims made against them for the services and advice they provide and will also offer protection to meet the financial costs of defending any legal actions.
